Fifteen years ago, when our national soccer team entered the field for the Americas Cup final, the successful coach, the Engineer Erramuspe, never showed up. Two days later he resigned his position for "personal reasons". Since then journalists have been trying to interview him and to know about what happened but they have all failed. When everybody assumes the truth will never be known, a young reporter who was only a child when the Engineer lead the team to a World cup final, finally gets the interview....

Instead, on impulse, he follows a young hitchhiker to a small fishing village, Devil's Point, in the north, on the coast of Uruguay. He makes fleeting acquaintance with some of the villagers, and learns that "the only thing to do in winter is to wait for summer".
