Hannah feels that a recent personal loss is somehow connected to the preservation of peace in Europe. The chaos around her blends with her inner world, in which a great war seems inevitable. Seeking calm, she visits her childhood friend Marlene in their home village, hoping to regain the peace she once knew.

A collective of fifteen emerging directors, guided by Tarr, each present a unique short segment reimagining the city and landscapes around Locarno—city streets, cable cars, the Val Bavona valleys, and Corippo—through varied cinematic lenses.
