Nedim Đuherić

An alcoholic Bosnian poet sends his wife and daughter away from Sarajevo so they can avoid the troubles there. However, he is soon descended upon by a pair of orphaned brothers. The brothers have escaped a massacre in their own village and have come to the Bosnian capital in search of a long lost Aunt. The poet befriends the boys and together they try to survive the horror of the siege of Sarajevo.

A resistance fighter in WW2 Sarajevo is running from the Gestapo and finds shelter in the home of the old man. The old man is a former member of the Mlada Bosna organization and tells the young man about his youth and events that which led to assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo.

The plot takes place in pre-war Yugoslavia, and the protagonist, interpreted by Zvonko Lepetic, is Jefto, a prison guard who lives with his family as a tenant in a basement. The plot shows how, convinced that he is destined for great things, he betrays his family, a friend and subordinates everything to his vanity.

Everybody knows that 130,000 prisoners are held behind barbed wires in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Is it enough to bring them an humanitarian aid so that they can die without being starved any longer?
