Biography
Rehana Siddiqui was an actress from Pakistan. She was born in Shimla, British India, on March 16, 1940. She married a film actor, Aurangzeb, but they later separated. Her father was working for the government. They had two daughters. She started her career by working at a radio station in Pakistan called Radio Pakistan in 1962. She was also recognized by her pen name, Rehana Zeerat. She used to write short stories for magazines and newspapers. She started her career as an actress in 1964 by working with a television network called PTV. She was well-known for her roles in daily soaps or dramas such as Fasad Ki Jar, Shama Har Rang Main Jalti Hai, Zameen, Kuch Tou Kaho, Takmeel, and Kallo. Some of her other dramas include Saat Bhiraie, Aadhi Roti Aik Langoti, Tanha, and Gohra Gass Ka Ta Hai. She also worked as an actress in theatres and stage plays in Lahore. She has also contributed to Urdu and Punjabi films such as Bahu Rani, Aanch, Hamdam, Agg Tay Khoon, and Mohabbat Rang Laye Gi. Some of her works on television include Aadhi Roti Aik Langoti (1965), Shama Har Rang Main Jalti Hai (1966), Zameen (1993), Kallo (1995), Red Card (1995), Girah (1999), Ghar Se Ghar (1997), Alhamdulillah (1994), Takmeel (1994), Khawab Azab (1992), Fasad Ki Jar (1999), Tanha (2012), Aag (2008), Barson Baad (2006), Delhi Kay Bankay (2007), and many more. Her works in films include Hamdam (1967), Aanch (1969), Bahu Rani (1969), Salgira (1969), BeWafa (1970), Mohabbat Rang Laye Gi (1970), Ek Raat (1972), Agg Tay Khoon (1975), Baghi (1975), Sat Bhiraie (1994), and Mohabbat Mar Nahin Sakti (1977). Some more films or movies include those of Reena Siddiqi, known for Dupatta Jal Raha Hai (1998) and Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza Hoshiyaar (1990). She also worked in many languages, like Urdu, Pashto, and Panjabi. She was honoured with Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 2009 for her contributions to the radio, television, and film industries. She passed away in Blackburn, United Kingdom, at age 81 due to a prolonged illness on July 29, 2021.
