Miracle at St. Anna chronicles the story of four American soldiers who are members of the all-black 92nd "Buffalo Soldier" Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II.
A young woman wants to shoot a film about "Orpheus in the Underworld", but in the course of pre-production she falls into a well and dies. Instead of finding peace in the beyond, she gets stuck here on earth. The reason for this is a lively craftsman from Berlin whom she has met a few minutes before her death by accident.
In 1871, a journalist for Versailles Television broadcasts a soothing and official view of events while a Commune television is set up to provide the perspectives of the Paris rebels. On a stage-like set, more than 200 actors interpret denizens of the Commune, especially the Popincourt neighborhood in the XIth arrondissement. They voice thoughts and feelings concerning the social and political reforms.
