Biography
Yolanda Balaoura (Γιολάντα Μπαλαούρα) is a Greek actress. She was born and raised in Karpenisi. She studied at the Theodosiadis Drama School in Athens. She began her career as an actress in 1983 by participating in the film comedy Roda, hanto kai kopana No2 playing a student. In 1985, she made her television debut in the comedy series by Yannis Dalianidis Ta lioantarakia tou kyr-Ilias, having one of the leading roles as Iro. This was followed by participation in nine video films from 1985 to 1989. During the same period, she participated in the cinema in the films Telecannibaloi and Gamos sto perithrio. In 1990, she played in the television series The Rebirth of a Nation in the role of Maria. In 1992, she played in the Mega Channel period series The Guards of Achaias, while in the 1992-1994 season she played Joy Papagiannis in the daily series of the same channel Parallel Roads. This was followed by special television appearances in the series The Unacceptable, High Rock, The Widow and the Worst, Mother is Only One and Magic Night. In the 1994-1995 season she took part in the series Cherchez la femme, followed by the comedy series Gin and Cherry the following season. In the 1997-1998 season she played alongside Katiana Balanika and Zacharias Rocha in the comedy series The Borrower on ANT1. In 2004, she participated in the comedy series My Sweetest Lie. In the 2004-2005 season, she took part in four television series. On the one hand, she was part of the cast of the series Alonzo tholeia and Xechasé me, while she made guest appearances in the series Erastis Ditykon Proastion and Kemis de lei s' agapo. One of her best-known television roles was that of Elpida Matsouka in the Mega Channel comedy series The Apartment Building. She joined the cast of the series in December 2008 and left shortly before the end of the second season in 2010. In 2010, she took part in the comedy Τίτεια πίσευτις. From 2011 to 2012, she made special appearances in the comedy series Me lei Vangelis. When one day the village madman announces their rendezvous, the elderly couple, panicked, take the bus and flee to Drama. However, the big decision has already been made, and when Mr. Elias' pension for former mayors and community presidents comes through, nothing can stop the couple anymore.
