This visual memory of the 17th century forms the 'archive footage' in the series. Combined with vivid drama and contributions from international experts, the series builds a bridge between "now" and "then" enabling viewers to experience what it was like to live through the Thirty Years' War.

Trained by an old friend, Agnès, in family planning meetings, Clémence will meet a young philosophy teacher, Jérôme. For him, she will abandon her husband and her children, and try to live the utopia of a life of total freedom. Blinded by his pain, a stranger to his wife's questioning, Gérard will have to become aware of the upheavals that will overwhelm society a few months later. Life will never be the same again.

Seven Africans, one woman and six men, decide to enter Europe clandestinely to start a new life. Together, they face dangers and obstacles, but as they get closer to Tangiers, the last stop before they reach Spain and "liberty", their inter-group solidarity starts to fall apart.
