Tazbah Redhouse is pilot of the first ship sent to colonize Mars, but a mysterious dream the night before their departure has her unsettled as their trip becomes in jeopardy.

In 1934 on the serene Navajo reservation, Mary Jane spends her time daydreaming and tending to her family's flock of sheep. When her older sister returns from boarding school with a world geography book, she reveals new worlds that are "just over the mountain." Conflicted by her obedient nature and her curious imagination, Mary Jane must privately decide to either maintain her lifestyle or depart into the exotic unknown.

Shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico, "Flat" follows a young mother, her daughter, and their bittersweet celebration.

Experimental violinist Laura Ortman performs her song, “My Soul Remainer,” while Jock Soto, former principal dancer for the New York City Ballet, acts as the enthralled observer. Ortman deconstructs Mendelssohn’s violin concerto in E minor—the recognizable strain transforms into Ortman’s signature plucky loop-based chords, resulting in an ethereal composition that fills the vast on-screen landscapes. My Soul Remainer was included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial.
