Lord Mountbatten: The Last Viceroy was a British television series which first aired on ITV in 1986. It depicts Lord Mountbatten's time as Viceroy of India shortly after the Second World War in the days leading up to Indian independence.
The year is 1893 and India is under British occupation. In a small village, the tyrannical Captain Russell has imposed an unprecedented land tax on its citizens. Outraged, Bhuvan, a rebellious farmer, rallies the villagers to publicly oppose the tax. Russell offers a novel way to settle the dispute: he challenges Bhuvan and his men to a game of cricket, a sport completely foreign to India. If Bhuvan and his men can defeat Russell's team, the tax will be repealed.

Shiva is an escaped convict who is looking for a suitable place to hide from the police. Soundariya then must garner support of herself, and must find someone who can stand up to Veer Pratap Singh and end his tyranny, in a town with men who have been subdued for eons by Veer Pratap Singh and his men for eons.
Satyaprakash is an honest security officer who works at the docks in a small town in India, and lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vishambernath; wife, Janki, a blind daughter, Munni; and an unmarried sister, Juhi. He hopes to make enough money to get Munni's vision back and ensure that Juhi gets married and the rest of the family are looked after well. Before that could happen, he is killed. When the Police come to his house looking for his killer, Janki, unknowingly shields the killer, but when she finds out the truth, she tells them about his location, but the killer flees.

Adivasi Mahua lives a poor lifestyle in a fishing village along with her widowed dad. One day the local Poojary comes across a seemingly menacing looking male, feeds him, and asks Mahua's dad to look after him. This male has no memory and they name him Kishan. Shortly thereafter Mahua and Kishan fall in love and get married. After about 2 months Kishan goes to the city and does not return home. A frantic Mahua and her dad go to the Police as well as to the city to search for him albeit in vain and return home. Mahua continues to worry about Kishan and sets out on her own to try and locate him. She meets with a doctor who informs her that he recalls treating a male fitting Kishan's description and gives her his Bombay address. Mahua travels to Bombay and locates Kishan's house.
