Vasily Belov

An adaptation of the novel by the famous soil writer Vasily Belov, raising the problems of the harmful influence of Western civilization on the Russian mentality.

Kostya Smagin, a rural tractor driver, was firstly charged with petty hooliganism, but later got caught up in another campaign during perestroika. And his case was blown up almost to a death-penalty case.

Collective farmer, foreman and tractor driver come to the city, where they find themselves in funny situations.

Afrikanych lived his whole life in the village with his wife Katerina in love and harmony. Katerina gave birth to his sixth child, and then fell ill. Afrikanych decided to go away to find work, but on the way he realized that he could not live without Katerina and his home.

Based on the novella of the same name by Vasily Belov. The television play is centered on the story of the old collective farm carpenter Smolin, recounting his life and the life of his native village.
