This film journeys deep into the heart of Austria’s favorite daily newspaper, the Kronen Zeitung, the most widely-read paper per capita in the world. The “Krone’s” 2.7 million readers represent 43% of the Austrian press market. A reflection of the Austrian soul, this newspaper serves as a prism through which we can understand the rise of the populist Right in this country and examine the dangerous flirtation between media and politics.

Born in the colonial time from a Belgian agent and a Rwandan woman, Suzanne is only 4 years old when her father brings her to Europe in 1930 to give her a European education. Suzanne’s father is also the director’s grandfather, who discovered only at the age of 27 that she had a mixed race aunt. Twenty years later, she makes this film, in which the family story intersects the bigger history.

This may be the last journey of Domagali, Amina and Hanne and their Toubou women's caravan in the Sahara. Each fall, armed with daggers, they leave the men behind and cross the desert to sell dates in Agadez to bring back the means to survive in the village for another year. This economic responsibility gives them a special position in their society. Yet, the increasing market pressure endangers their 'business'. How will their social status change
