A girl is having a smoke. Her moped has broken down. A guy is out walking too many dogs. A bunch of girls are playing football near a canyon. Dusk is falling and the magnificent cinematography lends a feeling that something greater than ourselves is at hand.

Affected by the powerful images in the pamphlet Om kriget kommer (If war comes), farmhand Karl-Göran Persson begins fortifying his house. Through years of harvesting scrap-metal, he transforms the house into a fortress, meant to protect him and his neighbors when the enemy attacks. As the task progresses, reality and the threat of future destruction become intertwined, and construction becomes an obsession for the lonely Karl-Göran.

Hollywood's epic stories from the Wild West have inspired an alienating role-playing universe somewhere out in today's Swedish wilderness. Here, a large group of freedom-loving people dressed in cowboy boots and Stetson hats get together in a re-enactment of a past that was never theirs.
