December 1941. Leningrad. The story centers on the main character, who, together with other employees, saves zoo animals from shelling. The people themselves are on the brink of life and death, but they do not abandon the hippopotamus named Krasavitsa.

Ksyusha barely remembers her father: he went missing when she was a child. Incredibly, he is showing signs of life, despite being in a coma. The man is returned home in this condition. His wife has now remarried. The family is thrown into disarray by the return of the former master of the house – terrifying things are happening in the house, and Ksyusha’s mom starts acting weird… Ksyusha begins to suspect that something supernatural, icy, and lifeless has come home with her father. And now Ksyusha and her stepfather are about to find themselves protecting their family from a demon.

The story unfolds in St. Petersburg during the season of White Nights, when night becomes curiously indistinguishable from day. Masha has struck it lucky: she is about to wed an American, Tim, eager to bring home a beautiful Russian wife. This marriage can take her light-years beyond her simple provincial roots, but for now Masha has a family to take care of, and she dutifully sends all the wages she earns to them. To save money she even dupes her fiancée by returning the expensive wedding dress he has bought for her to the boutique and sawing an identical one for herself. The night before the wedding Masha hastens to meet Tim, but fails to make it to the other side of the River Neva before the drawbridge is raised. The betrothed find themselves standing on the pavement with the mighty river between them...

It's New Year's Eve. Stefania and her friends are busily preparing for the holiday. However, Stefania's mind is elsewhere: she failed the audition for a popular musical, and her dream is to become a professional singer. Suddenly, thieves break into Stefania's apartment to steal the diamonds she recently found. Now the friends must embark on another journey to save their friend from trouble.
