Georges Vandéric, often credited simply "Vandéric", is an actor, author and director born in Schaerbeek (municipalities of Brussels) on September 1, 1901. He was notably trained in the theater by Charles Dullin. He appeared throughout his prestigious theatrical career on stage in great classic works such as L'An Mil, Britannicus, Corneille etc. and also in film as an actor and dubbing actor. In the theater, he notably staged in 1943: "La Folle d'Amour" by Jacques Seguin at the Théâtre de l'Œuvre (Paris). In 1944: "Évangéline Perdue" by Maurice Cimber, still at the Théâtre de l'Œuvre. In 1947: "Montserrat" by Emmanuel Roblès at the Montparnasse theater (Paris). In 1948 "Le Bout De La Route" by Jean Giono, at the Mathurins theater (Paris). Pontius Pilate, in 1952 at the National Theater of Strasbourg ... He disappeared on August 1, 1979 in Brussels.

A train driver has not slowed down at a signal and caused an accident whose victim is a gatekeeper. Two inspectors come to investigate the affair. During his interrogation, the driver refuses to provide an explanation for his action and is charged with malpractice. The only one he will tell the truth to is the gatekeeper's wife.

The Chain Breaker
This is a film which was made in Belgium in the early '60s and was never released. However, it somehow got included in the American Oscar category for "Best Foreign Film," and was finally released in its home country in 1971. It explores the issues of prejudice and superstition in the Belgian countryside through the troubles of a middle-aged farmer whose mother has been accused of being a witch. In French, this picture is based on a true story which took place in the late 1920s and early '30s.
