On two hills, two fortresses are located opposite each other. Two enemy armies shoot arrows and cannons. At night, soldiers from one fortress dug a tunnel into another. They captured a nearby fortress. During this time, soldiers from another fortress captured the neighboring one by air. In the morning, it became clear that they had only exchanged fortresses. The war continues.

Zlatin Radev’s pixilated Canfilm (1990) from Bulgaria is a brilliant, often hilarious political allegory about tin cans that live in cartons resembling skyscrapers and are periodically relabeled by the powers that be.

A bored cartoonist draws a pretty woman. Then, a discarded character, a strongman, comes to life and approaches the woman, and the cartoonist finds himself snatched into the paper world., where he battles the strongman, in an effort to impress the woman.
