Directing
The life of Michelangelo Buonarroti.
A collage of videos, photos and writings reconstructs the story of a young traveler who disappeared in the Himalayas. From his apartment in Venice, the director questions the materials that his missing friend sent him during his journey and finally gives shape to the journey he always dreamed of making, but never dared to undertake. A poetic reflection on the creation of images and the relationship we have with our memories.
The island of Bácan, in the Venice Lagoon, is a strip of land that once emerged only in the summer. Human intervention, particularly the excavation work for the MOSE dam has altered the lagoon’s water balance, making the island a permanent feature. Through a narration that gives voice to the island itself, the film reflects on its changing nature and on the connection between humans, water, and the landscape.
Night Song of a Wondering Cowboy is a journey beyond the boundaries of the map of 'Red Dead Redemption 2', a 'free world' video game with a vast surface area. Exploiting a glitch, I pushed my avatar into territories not meant to be played, which were also created by the programmers. Here one encounters atmospheres, areas and objects charged with mystery and surreality.

Present-day Venice. Far from the swarms of tourists and cruise ships an alternate topography is made plain— one lived at the edges of the ancient city's lagoons, beneath the surface of its canals. A shipwright, a Venetian rowing champion, a diver, a fish merchant and a fisherman chronicle their daily lives as proximate and dependent on water, the founding element of the Venetian Republic a thousand years prior.
