A crew is shooting a libertine costume film in the countryside when Valentin, the director, suddenly disappears. While the local police investigates, the film shoot continues but takes an odd turn. Robin, the cameraman and director’s lover, follows a promise and reaches the Mexican Pacific.

The prisoner Klara Wendel was supposed to be deported from west to east Switzerland. But strange incidents occur during her transport, and all her companions disappear. Klara is found wearing a nun’s habit. To get to the heart of the matter, a tribunal is hastily set up in a barn. The judges want to find out how Klara has managed to escape and why she’s dressed as a nun. On trial by men, Klara somehow manages to take over and become the director of both the trial and the film.

In Saint-Nazaire, heavy industry operates in the open air, where the Loire meets the Atlantic Ocean. The film brings together images of the estuary’s landscapes with the words of those who live and work in the area, portraying them as individuals caught in the contradictions of our time and of contemporary labor.

On the oscillating waters of the lake, the young men, who are haunted by the memories of their home countries, share secrets, memories and the same feeling of being uprooted. A strange intimacy forms between the two men.

The film reveals the diversity, sound and melody of Romansh, one of Switzerland's four official national languages. In the age of globalization, Romansh, which is only spoken by a small minority, seems to be threatened with extinction. For the protagonists of this poem of images and sounds, however, the language is a symbol of their belonging, their identity and their resistance.
