It is made by the honest engraver in the first story, seduced by the charms of a young widow, and it subsequently passes into the hands of a beggar and a prostitute, a wealthy miser and a newly married couple where the husband is a poor artist.
The Counterfeit Coin

A peaceful, though extremely mean, family man, Manolis, is married for ten years to Veta. Some night he spends an astronomical amount of money at a night club, with his partner Giorgos and two pretty and cheerful Greek-American girls, Margaret and Evelyn. However, to his bad luck, Evelyn is no other but Vangelitsa, his wife’s cousin, who visits the next day for lunch.
A Ripple in the Pond

A poor man accepts the money someone offers him to marry a foreign woman so that she can stay in Greece.

The drunk Mihail attempts suicide in the women's baths of Neo Faliro. After some obstacles, since the actor was afraid of the sea, he falls into the shallows, but is saved by fishermen and recovers thanks to the care of Konchita and Lolota. In the last scene of the play, Mihail is on the train steps with Konchita. There, however, he encounters Fofo Laoudi, whom he... takes from behind, resulting in him being beaten up by Concetta, Lolota, and... the audience!
The Wedding of Concetta and Mihail

Disappointed with his life, Mihail goes to the pharmacy to buy sublimé (mercury dichloride) to commit suicide. On the way, he meets a girl, Concetta, with her mother. Mihail falls madly in love with her and decides to follow her to Faliro. There, his suicidal tendencies resurface and he prepares to drown himself. Luckily for him, Concetta grabs him by the collar and saves him at the last moment. Mihail falls into her arms and is overcome with happiness. Suddenly, Concetta's mother appears and beats Mihail. He hides in order to escape. Conchita's mother quietly takes a boat and sets out to sea. After a while, the boatman attacks her, demanding that she give him her money. Fortunately, Mihail realizes what is happening and rushes to save the mother, who eventually takes a liking to him and gives him her daughter's hand in marriage.
