Ershi's sister, Marussia, a sailor of the Black Sea Squadron, was seduced by Baron von Vogel. Coincidentally, he is assigned to the same ship where he serves the nation. The situation on the ship is tense. The arbitrariness of the officers causes discontent among the sailors. Only the ship's mechanic, Menshevik Avalov, weakly defends the interests of the sailors.

Engineer Dukalsky arrives from Moscow on the instructions of an underground anti-Soviet center to the Baltic Shipyard in order to take possession of the blueprints of a powerful ship engine. The pest meets the author of the project - a young and incorruptible self-taught master Ivanov. After a series of unsuccessful attempts to buy out or steal the drawings from the author, Dukalsky decides to take Ivanov with him. The wounded Russian Orloff, treated in a Japanese hospital, is watched over with devotion by the volunteer nurse Hanako, who seems charming to him. On Hanako's father's refusal, Lieutenant Orloff kidnaps the little geisha and brings her back to Moscow. Far from her native country, little Hanako no longer seems so pretty to the fickle Orloff who now prefers the beautiful Rayskaya. Unable to overcome her pain, the little geisha prefers to die.
