Helsinki in the summer is shown differently through the eyes of the homicide unit detectives, Timo Harjunpää and Onerva Nykänen; painting a picture of the city where people are not safe in the streets or not even in their own homes. In the midst of the hard crimes it is impossible not to feel the constant worry about your own family while being afraid of losing touch with your children.

A celebrated violin player, Karin, has to end her stellar career after a car accident makes her fingers stop working their magic. Christmas calendar: Winter Yard Christmas tells the story of seven animals—a donkey, a pig, a duck, two goats, and two dogs—and a young man named Onni (Topi Kanerva), who try to save a traditional but bankrupt farm from going out of business just before Christmas. Ilona (Isadora Brown), who lives in a nearby apartment building, also comes to their aid. Onni is in debt to the greedy village shopkeeper Roimola (Heikki Silvennoinen), who has other plans for Talvipiha. Will Onni and the animals have to move away from their home, or will a Christmas miracle happen?
