The young fisherman Tørres wants to become rich, so he can get revenge over Krøger, who has taken his family home. He gets a job in Mrs. Knudsen's shop to establish himself, and after a short time he has the upper hand on Krøger...
The film is based on the story The Emperor Felix written by Gustav Aagaard, rewritten for the film by Gunnar Nilsen-Vig, who also photographed the film. Rasmus Breistein directed the film.

It is midsummer in Oslo. There is intense activity on pier 1 just before the fjord boat is about to depart. The pier is crowded with people: families going to the countryside and fathers staying behind at home. Mrs. Rigmor Sande and her two children, Vesleper and Titten, are already on board and standing by the railing. Dad Per Sande, the soon-to-be grass cutter, is frantically searching for the family's suitcase, which has gone astray. The moorings are released and the boat is ready to depart. "You can leave your husband behind, but not your suitcase," exclaims the lively 21-year-old Ellen Stenersen. She and Per are left standing on the pier. They are old acquaintances and neighbors in the country. Per doesn't think being a grasshopper is so bad. He and his friend Stoffer throw themselves into the temptations of Oslo. The men are also accompanied by Ellen. Per and Ellen develop warm feelings for each other.
Iver loses his Romani-parents in an avalanche, and gets adopted by farmer Sjur. Years later, his background comes back to cause trouble in his personal life.

The film takes place in the idyllic town of Solsund. Per Haug, a temporary worker, bachelor, amateur painter and leader of the political opposition in the city council, lives there. One day he rushes home from a turbulent city council meeting and angrily paints a portrait of Mayor Abrahamsen.
Petter and Kari meet, fall in love, and get married. But it's not easy for a young couple of limited means to find a place to live. Moving in with Petter's parents proves impossible, Kari can't endure her mother-in-law's constant interference. Trying to build a house of their own is halted by so much red tape, and affordable rentals is hard to come by. When Kari gets pregnant things doesn't get any easier.

MS Lidvard was shipping corn from Vietnam, arriving in Dakar, Senegal May 30th 1940. The ship was immediately held back by the government, together with eight other norwegian ships. After a year, July 27th 1941, the ship fled from Dakar, to the British in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Two police officers lie dead. The swede Ekstrøm and the youngster Gustav flees the scene of the crime. Based on a real double murder in 1926, this movie remained almost unseen for 57 years. When the film was set to premiere in 1950 one of the murderers, having served a full sentence, went to court to have the film stopped.
The stuttering Theobald stumbles upon some ballet girls who are in town with a touring theater company and falls in love with Lill. This leads to an interest in becoming an actor, and a theater manager sees him as an unintentional comic relief on stage.

Øjvind, a smallholder's boy, is a close friend with Marit, a farmer's girl, throughout their entire childhood. As an adolescent he one day recognizes that she has become a maiden, and that he has fallen in love with her. When he sees Marit dancing with Jon Halten, a farmer's son, he gets sad, and notices that when you start loving someone, you are not cheerful any more. He senses the social distance between himself and Marit, and tries to compensate this by becoming the best pupil in the village. Øjvind wants to study at an agricultural college, and the old schoolmaster helps him to arrange this. When he some years later returns to the village as an agronomist, he and Marit resume their romance. Because of their different social status Marit's grandfather, Ola Nordistua, tries to stop the liaison. With new agricultural methods Øjvind helps his father to get better harvests. At the same time the old Ola Nordistua sees his farm going downhill as no one really cares for it.
