Biography
Greer Lankton (April 21, 1958 – November 18, 1996) was an American artist and transgender woman known for creating lifelike, sewn dolls that were often modeled on friends and celebrities and posed in elaborate theatrical settings. She was a key figure in the East Village art scene of the 1980s and is also known for her work with photographers Nan Goldin, Peter Hujar, David Wojnarowicz, and Steven Meisel.

Nan Goldin's slide show “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency” converted, mixed and screened as a film by the artist, portraying the American underground culture, the no wave scene, post-Stonewall gay subculture, among others.

This rare homemade movie by Joyce Randall depicts Artist, Sculptor, Doll Maker, Greer Lankton in an impossible number of positions, time lapsed. She manages to cover every square inch of the room before the film is done. Greer's friends often mention that she used to like to tie herself up in knots and stay in contorted positions, as well as sit in unusual poses that demonstrate her flexibility, so she and her sister created this home movie on VHS.
