Kitty meets Hedgehog outside a psychiatric hospital: he's a patient and an artist, and she's an outsider. Their relationship quickly develops, and soon the patients, along with doctors and nurses, are helping the couple get married. Kitty and Hedgehog begin their family life, but their new reality proves a serious challenge.

A young Surrealist artist arrives in Leningrad to enter the Academy of Arts. In search of like-minded people, he goes around the city, gets to know his inhabitants and meets Alevtina, a girl who has already entered the bohemian environment...
