Sasha, an excellent student at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is facing a difficult ordeal — serving in the most disadvantaged area of Yugodonsk. He hopes to find his father there, whom he has never seen, a true legend of the criminal investigation department. However, instead of the exemplary hero, Sasha meets his complete opposite, the "Little One." An experienced operative has long established life in the city on the principle of "live by yourself and let others live" — for the sake of his own convenience, the "Little One" turns a blind eye to minor offenses of local residents. Sasha faces an almost impossible task: to solve complicated cases and re-educate his father, a partner who has long been accustomed to solving everything according to his own rules, and not according to protocol.

After yet another failed attempt at producing gold, the alchemist Sir Lavoie, leaves the capital to seek the advice of a colleague in another city. His house is left to his three servants: the maid Doll, the footman Face and the lackey Satl. They decide to get rich by posing as alchemists and helping people solve their problems, even though they understand nothing of alchemy.
An armed attack on cash messengers is undertaken near a trade center in a small provincial town, an agent of Ministry of Internal Affairs dies in crossfire. A crime investigator major Rovnin (V. Kuznetsov), who appeared to be a close friend of the deceased, comes from Moscow to assist in the investigation. He is astonished at how savagely his friend was shot, as if someone was revenging. Local investigating bodies are convinced that they can manage this and arent too satisfied with the arrival of Moscow expert. They try to handle this as soon as possible, even at the cost of mistake. But the majors task is to find the killer, in spite of the fact that he is left nothing but to hold the investigation by himself.
Irina Evteeva’s debut quickly became a kind of manifesto for the one-room experimental studio: it defines classification by interweaving animation, appropriated footage, feature and documentary to form a unique whole, a film that rushes backwards into the future, thereby re-inventing Futurism. Mayakovskiy is the star; his occasional presence holds together a film driven by the sound, the beat, of his poetry. Evteeva develops a dramatic structure of flaring, fading, being from light: violin strings become rays, quivering dull yellow spots, pictures. The plot assails the material from which it derives energy from material. History, growling and roaring, finds its form.
