Who can talk about the medals won at the Olympic Games in London, but at the same time knows who Captain Haddock is? Who knows whether Lacan was a hair growth product or a psychoanalyst and can also program their own digital television? Who has déjà vu when leafing through the Encyclopedia Britannica and when reading the interviews with the new Miss Waregem Koerse? Who, oh who, is the smartest person in Flanders, Belgium, Europe, and by extension, the world? That is determined by a fierce battle between three fellow human beings. Every day, someone is eliminated, someone who may not be the smartest, but who is perhaps cherished in their family circle because of their many other talents. The others advance and are joined by a new challenger every day.

Nearly a decade ago, Xander De Rycke took to the stage armed with nothing more than a dozen pages of jokes and a slideshow filled with screenshots. What began as a small internet show grew, thanks to a loyal fanbase, into a phenomenon that managed to fill nine Lotto Arenas. Today, the show is known as the most spectacular end-of-year comedy conference in Flanders. In 2025, that success reaches its peak in the country’s largest venue: the AFAS Dome in Antwerp. Not just the 2025 edition of ‘Houdt het voor bekeken’, but a true celebration of everything that has made ten years of #HHVB what it is. Expect a barrage of sharp jokes, affectionate nods to past shows, and of course contributions from both friends and “frenemies”.

Since 2016, Xander De Rycke has been touring annually with 'Houdt het voor bekeken' (#HHVB), a comedy special about the past year in television and film in Flanders. Previous editions of HHVB focused on the future of Flemish media. Where are we headed? How far ahead are we compared to the rest, and where do we stand head and shoulders above the rest? HHVB 2018·2019 takes a different direction. Increasingly, film and television are treating us to that 'remember when?' feeling. Franchises are being rebooted, old celebrities are being brought back, and we also have to keep an eye on VTM's 30th anniversary. Was everything better in the past? Is there still room for originality? Or do Flemish people prefer to be wrapped in a blanket of nostalgia? Tighter than Natalia's cleaning crew, more viewers than the successor to F.C. De Kampioenen and even harder back than Bart De Pauw. Also in 2024, 'Xander De Rycke keeps it up' returns to Lotto Arena Antwerp. And the bar is set high. Doing better than last year seems to many an impossible mission, but Xander is not afraid of a challenge.
