The series is based on the famous series of novels by Finnish author Tove Jansson. It follows the adventures of strange creatures called Moomins and their equally strange friends. The series features a continuous narrative within individual installments, which do not always align with the 13-episode division. The series is realized using the semi-flat puppet technique, with commentary.

The film tells the story of the Moomin family's preparations for winter and their hibernation, interrupted by unexpected events: the appearance of the mischievous Nibling, a visit to Too-Ticky, who lives by the sea, the adventures of Little My, rescued by Moomintroll, the exploits of the Hemulen, a sports enthusiast, and so on. The story ends with the arrival of spring, the awakening of all the inhabitants of Moominvalley, and the return of Snufkin. The film is based on episodes of the television series "Moomin Stories".

Colargol, after numerous preparations and tests, takes a trip around the Earth's globe with Raven and Rat. After an emergency landing, they build a new rocket and set off towards the Phantasmagoria constellation.

Based on episodes of the series "Moomin Stories", the Moomins reminisce about the fondest moments of their lives. Moominpappa reminisces about his childhood; Moomintroll reminisces about how he, Sniff, and Snufkin set out to find out if Earth was truly threatened by a comet; and Moominmamma reminisces about the incredible visit of aliens from outer space.

The evil wolf Kid kidnaps Hector the Rat, wanting to extract from him the secret of growing golden tulips. Colargol the Bear and Raven set off to help their friend. They are aided by a magical suitcase. Their journey takes them through the Netherlands, America, Australia, Siberia, Africa, and ends in their home forest.
