Over time, his life seems to be getting better and better - he marries Ludwika, an extra, and they have a child, but one day he catches his wife in flagrante with Grywicz, and his whole world falls apart. The final straw is the fact that his wife's lover is to play Napoleon, and when asked to leave Jadwiga alone, he responds with laughter. Kurczek takes drastic measures.
