Biography

Ottavio Dantone (born 9 October 1960) is an Italian conductor and keyboardist (primarily harpsichord and fortepiano) particularly noted for his performances of Baroque music. He has been the music director of the Accademia Bizantina in Ravenna since 1996 .

From the RAI “Arturo Toscanini” Auditorium in Turin, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to Igor Stravinsky, on the fiftieth anniversary of his death, with *Pulcinella* conducted by Ottavio Dantone, one of the foremost interpreters of early music, a harpsichordist and conductor, and a leading expert and scholar of Baroque performance practice. The vocal parts are performed by mezzo-soprano Paola Gardina, the young Australian tenor Alasdair Kent, and bass-baritone Paolo Bordogna. The evening concludes with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551, known as “Jupiter.”
