Ren Nanahoshi is a lonely college student who isn't good at communicating with others. He remembers the thrill of watching a live band perform when he was young, and spent most of his days searching for his own identity. One day, while singing karaoke alone, two boys named Yuuto and Wataru discover Ren's singing ability. The two agree: "This is fate. Let's start a band!" Ren promptly runs away, but fate indeed steps in, and their journey begins.
One day, on his way to high school, student Junpei picks up an unusual looking rock. Thinking nothing of it, he heads to class. While in the middle of a session, the rock comes to life and transports him and four others to an animated world! To make matters more interesting, the group is introduced to a giant sphinx who is determined to take over the world! Now, to protect their world from invasion, the group must work together as anime characters and real-world humans!
Shonan Theater, also known as...Distress Theater. One day, comedian Tokiura (Yoshihiko Aramaki) comes to this theater where comedians with no future or problems are banished to the island. On stage, the duo Amagen, consisting of Genta (Chin Naisho) and Amano (Mizuki Umetsu), is performing a skit. However, there were only two customers, and only the voice of the skit echoed hollowly. Meanwhile, in the dressing room on the second floor, entertainers such as Jatani (Hiroki Torigoe) and Shima (Masanari Wada) are gambling on card games even though the performance is in progress. Furthermore, when Tokiura comes to the dressing room, Jabani persistently tries to ask him the truth about the "certain incident" involving Tokiura that led to him being exiled to the island.
Set in an alternative world of Bungo Stray Dogs, this "what-if" story imagines if Atsushi Nakajima was in the Port Mafia and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa was in the Armed Detective Agency, instead of vice-versa. The story follows Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, who vows revenge on a man dressed in black in order to rescue his sister. However, as he is about to starve to death, a man from the Armed Detective Agency appears.

Bungo Stray Dogs on Stage (舞台「文豪ストレイドッグス」, Butai Bungō Sutorei Doggusu?) is the first stage play adaptation of the Bungo Stray Dogs series, covering the start of the story to Atsushi's and Akutagawa's conflict aboard a cargo ship. It premiered from December 22 to 24, 2017 at Kanagawa Arts Theater Hall; January 12 to 13, 2018 at Morinomiya Piloti Hall; and January 31 to February 4, 2018 at Tokyo AiiA 2.5 Theater.
