We follow the last days of an old officer and his housemaid as fear of death, hell and superstition cloud over the mind of the man as he has to sell a sinister ancient wooden figure or his soul will not be saved.

This is the story about Henry who fails in his marriage. He also feels unsuccessful in the role as the father of his daughter Susanne. Shortly thereafter, his daughter commits suicide and Henry begins to explore his daughter's life. He meets Tom, a acquaintance of Susanne, and through him, Henry find out that there was a lot he did not know about his daughter.

What stories can old films and photographs tell? A movie camera, projector and 4 reels of developed film belonging to painter Edvard Munch, were donated to the Munch museum in Oslo some years ago. This find, along with the painter's photographical self portraits, written notes and letters, set the stage for "the narrator" (Frank Robert) to set out on a journey throughout Europe in the footsteps of Munch.
