The film tells the story of a real life fan of Boca Juniors football club, Mary Esher Duffau, who as a teenage girl adopted the identity of a man in order to survive on the streets of Buenos Aires. The film shows the teenage Raulito wandering between a reformatory for juvenile offenders, prison and psychiatric hospital. Raulito manages to escape, and finds work at Constitución railway station in Barrio Constitución. Raulito meets up with another street child and they become close friends. They both eventually manage to escape to Mar del Plata.

Paloma is a girl from the neighborhood who dreams of success singing tangos. Until one day, two old friends inherit a mansion in San Telmo where they long to open a bar with Paloma as the star. The endless financial difficulties cannot be resolved with just a strong will, so they decide to turn to Alfredo Lucena, a businessman with important connections. The businessman immediately falls in love with the young woman and decides to help her achieve a successful career. But on her long-awaited debut, Paloma meets Diego, an orchestra pianist who manages to discover the girl's soul.
