For the USA, World War 2 was an all-out war - to mobilize the masses, the US government launched a huge propaganda campaign and cinema, the medium of the masses, was quite simply their most important weapon. Government authorities monitored the production of feature films and the military itself produced documentaries aimed at rallying the American people to support the troops. This film tells the story of four Hollywood directors of European origin, who returned to the "Old World" during the Second World War to make propaganda documentaries for the US Army at the front: William Wyler from Alsace, Frank Capra from Italy, Anatole Litvak from Ukraine and - in post-war Germany - Billy Wilder from Austria.

Lutz Kayser, a Swabian engineer, has dreamed of the stars since childhood. In 1969, he and other members of a student working group won a research contract from the German government to develop alternative forms of propulsion for the European rocket program. At the beginning of the 1970s, when the German government no longer wanted to fund this research, Kayser founded OTRAG (Orbital Transport und Raketen Aktiengesellschaft) - the world's first private space company.

Around six to 15 percent of all people (study by John Hearst 2011) hear voices at some point in their lives. Many of them even live with their invisible companions for their entire lives. Well over half of voice hearers are mentally healthy and lead a completely unremarkable life. Despite this, voice hearers continue to be stigmatized and are subject to prejudice. As a result, few speak openly about their experiences. In recent decades in particular, however, voice hearing has been regarded as a symptom of impaired brain function. The documentary sheds light on the phenomenon. Sufferers describe the voices in their heads, as well as the thoughts and feelings they trigger in them, and scientists explain the causes that lead people to hear voices.

Daniel, then 31 years old, is seriously injured in a car accident. The diagnosis: severe craniocerebral trauma. His hippocampus - the region of the brain that plays a key role in long-term and short-term memory - was permanently damaged. His brain cannot store any new information. From now on, Daniel will have to find his way in a life without memories.
