Anna, who is blind, dreams of becoming a pianist. Twice a week she plays in a bar for a small audience. Her work colleague Max is taken with her. When she embarks on a trip with him, feelings quickly arise that neither of them can hide. Anna is offered a place at Europe's best music academy, but Max can't come with her. Max unintentionally breaks up with Anna, but she realizes that Max is sacrificing himself for her.

War orphans Elene and Leo have lived with their grandfather Davit in a small village near the town of Gori in Georgia since they were very young. Although the Russian-Georgian war of 2008 took place years ago, its effects are still clearly present: the border illegally erected by the Russian military runs close to the small family's home and is increasingly threatening their existence due to the creeping relocation.

In 2008, through Russian military interventions, South Ossetia was declared an “independent” territory. Robinson and part of his family still live in the Georgian settlement that was built for the refugees. The story of a parallelism: while Robinson gazes into the distance, uprooted, life for his grandchildren begins in the here and now.
