In 1991, almost an entire keel structure of a large Pomeranian vessel was washed up on the White Sea coast by a storm. Now the matrix is in the Solovetsky Maritime Museum. A former military pilot, a builder and a future artist came here to build a sailing wooden ship.

Every summer, herds of salmon return to Sakhalin Island from the ocean. Every year their number is dramatically reduced. Vanya's family is destroyed like an ecosystem of wild salmon: his parents do not live together. Yielding to the persuasion of his elder brother, his father takes Vanya with him on a journey around the island. He promises Vanya to show him spawning salmon.

The film is about the Sakhalin and Nivkh writer Vladimir Sangi. The writer's life is closely intertwined with the fate of the people, the endangered aborigines of Sakhalin – the Nivkhs.

On the banks of the Tym River, on Sakhalin, a village with the indigenous peoples of Sakhalin, the Nivkhs, lives its life. Lyuba has long since left her native village for St. Petersburg. However, the memory of her father, a war veteran, and those who fought for greater Russia from a small Sakhalin village haunts the heroine of the film.

The film was filmed during the 2013 Amur flood. Postman Nadia delivers mail to villagers in distress. The peculiarities of the relationship between people living in the outback, far from the city and the center of the country, are manifested in the struggle against the elements.

A film based on a script by the Sakhalin ethnographer Alexander Chelnokov. The events of the last months of World War II in the seas of the Far East are associated with modern life on Sakhalin. The heroes of the film are young people who are interested in history and participants in the naval battles of 1945.
