After failing to get into college, Sergei Krasheninnikov goes to visit his grandfather in a small town and starts working on a road construction crew. While working, the builders discover a soldier’s grave. Sergei is tasked with identifying the deceased. He begins his search.

The first part "Zhenya" tells about a boy Zhenya, who goes to kindergarten. The story tells about his relationship with his peers and how he was unfairly punished. Will he be able to act manly in this situation? The second part "Buba" is about a 11-year-old musician from a Georgian village, who one day is given a chance to prove himself among adult musicians - he is offered to replace one of the members of an amateur orchestra.
