Prafulla is beautiful and righteous but is mistreated by her in laws because of her poverty. Prafulla comes to a fortune by chance and is guided by Bhabani Pathak, a nationalistic religious leader to use this fortune in the cause of justice. She is trained rigorously and becomes a bandit queen wrapped in mystery and even fights back Colonial British forces to safeguard villagers.She becomes the legendary Debi Chowdhurani. Gradually incidents take such a turn that her erstwhile tormentors, i.e. her in laws come under her power and the movie ends with reconciliation.

There are a particular class of Brahmins called Agradani, who are to be the chosen to perform the eating rituals on behalf of the dead. Poonnyo Chakraborty, a poor man belongs to the Agradani community lives with his family in a village. Local zamindar promises him to provide lands and money if Poonnyo lie down in front of the room where Zamindar's son is going to be born. In morning Poonnyo watches that zamindar's wife again gave birth to a dead child, soon he replaces the dead son with his new born baby. The baby grown ups as zamindar's son. Only Poonnyo knows that he is the biological father of the boy. One day a circumstances comes where he is forced to perform the funeral rituals for his own son.

This story concerns an honest police officer Amit Sen and his wife Seema. Seema has to kill a smuggler, Changez in self-defence, but she cannot tell anything to Amit. Changez's boss Shamsher Singh harasses her for the diamonds that Changez has accidentally dropped in her house, but she has no clue about. In due course, Seema is arrested. Finally, Amit catches Shamsher Singh and proves Seema's innocence in court.

One day her uncle sold her for some money from where Savitri escaped and took shelter in Gagan's house. When Gagan's wife saw Savitri in Gagan's reading room, she went to her grandfather's house. Gagan and Abalakanta (Santosh Dutta) helped Savitri learn etiquette and the ways of genteel society.
