Biography
Lucie Szechter is a filmmaker, artist, and holds a PhD in Arts with a focus on research-creation in film studies. Her work examines our relationship with others and various frameworks, whether they be cinematic, sociological, or philosophical. The theme of the intimate/collective body run through her projects. Her films have notably received the Courts d'ici Prize in 2014 in Nice and have been showcased at festivals such as Côté Court, Festival International de Films de Femmes, London Feminist Film Festival, Itinérances, the Mois du film documentaire, as well as at MAC VAL museum, Le Wonder, Zoo galerie and the Cinematek in Brussels. She has collaborated with Le BAL / La Fabrique du Regard and the Centre Pompidou in partnership with the Opéra de Massy and CinéMassy as a guest artist for workshops. Lucie Szechter also writes and publishes on cinema and video art and provides practical filmmaking courses at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (in Cinema and Visual Arts). Lastly, she has shown her work at the Erg Gallery in Brussels.
