The star-studded special celebrates the trailblazing music series' 40th anniversary. With guest hosts Jeff Bridges, Matthew McConaughey and Sheryl Crow, the two-hour broadcast features memorable moments from the show's remarkable run, anchored by some of the brightest stars in the show's history returning to the AUSTIN CITY LIMITS stage for incredible performances. Highlights include legends Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Foo Fighters, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Gary Clark Jr., Lyle Lovett, Alabama Shakes, Buddy Guy and more performing in celebration of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS' legacy as an American music institution over the last four decades.

This live version from the August 5, 1982, telecast has been digitally remastered and edited. Orbison’s appearance was a milestone in the 25-year history of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. He became the first bona fide legend to step onto their stage. His performance took the show to a new level, a larger audience and the status of being a nationally recognized television program. This man from Sherman, Texas probably best-known as the wide-grinning rube on Hee Haw for so many years started a country music revolution. Or more accurately, a counter-revolution. It was called the Bakersfield Sound, He and fellow revolutionary Merle Haggard were cranking out raw, hard-driving honky-tonk music that stood the country-pop coming out of Nashville on its head. When Buck Owens and the Buckaroos would launch into "I've got a tiger by the tail, it s plain to see...!" the packed crowds would be on their feet and headed for the dance floor. Performed at Austin City Limits on October 23, 1988.

The legendary Willie Nelson is in fantastic form on this 1990 Austin City Limits performance. Once upon a time...it all began with Asleep at the Wheel. Willie Nelson may have done the original Austin City Limits pilot show, but "The Wheel" was the first act to perform on the first episode of the very first season in 1976. Over three decades later they still deliver their own special brand of jazz-inspired Western Swing to avid fans of every description coast-to-coast. The other half of the very first show also featured a historic reunion of the original members of Bob Wills Texas Playboys. What makes this particular program, recorded October 14, 1992, so special is that several of those original Playboys return to perform with Asleep at the Wheel. Pioneering electric guitarist Eldon Shamblin, singer Leon Rausch, pedal steel player Herb Remington and virtuoso fiddler Johnny Gimble wail away on such Wills' classics as "Corine, Corina," "Roly Poly," and "Blues for Dixie." Goosebumps are guaranteed.

Susan Tedeschi’s debut album earned her a prestigious Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2000 (she lost to Christina Aguilera!). She sounds like part Bonnie Raitt, part Janis Joplin, part Aretha Franklin, yet she can belt out a song without losing control in a way that gives her an edge that no other singer can compare to. Add to her vocal prowess, her guitar slinger skills and you have a rare combination in a contemporary female performer. Recorded in 2003, Tedeschi’s performance is the essence of what Austin City Limits is all about, drawing from the best of blues, rock, soul and funk. But what she does best comes from deep within her heart and soul.

Central Rain (I'm Sorry)", "Fall on Me", and "Imitation of Life."; The setlist is heavy on songs from their upcoming album, Accelerate, but features classic hits "Drive", "Losing My Religion" and "Man on the Moon."
