One day, a theater company to Iron Creek. In the city's steel mills meet the young actress Monika young Erik. The love between them is from the very clear but complicated by the fact both have careers.

Adolf Jansson makes a living doing odd jobs until one day he gets a job working as a butler in the Pettersson residence. Adolf is instantly liked by everyone in the family except the daughter Susette, whom Adolf has fallen in love with.

A young medical student falls in love with her professor. To pay for her studies, she works extra nights and performs as a popular singer at a dance restaurant. But she is fired because of an unpleasant guest and takes a job as a maid. The professor appears in the family and a carousel of lies takes off.

A comedy in which the noted and rotund Swedish comedian, Edvard Persson, plays the title role (Baldevin), as a waterfront tramp leading his chosen life-style of indolence. A friend urges him to wage a courtship of a rich widow, which he does and manages to get involved in many humorous situations in the process.
