One summer day, two teens begin a reckless affair and abandon their families to be with one another.

This farce cocerns Sweden's King Gustav (Per Oscarsson who plays all the lead roles). The royal monarchs of three major European countries are patiently or not-so-patiently hovering on the sidelines while watching the future King Gustav closely. No single king appears to possess the brains he was born with, so history seems to be made by default, as it were. Gustav does blunder around, but not enough to miss being crowned king. As a result, France, England, and Germany invade Sweden hoping to take by force what they could not gain by incompetence.

During a brief summer vacation, a lonely woman recalls her first love thirteen years earlier.

Somewhere in the archipelago outside Sandhamn lives the barber Assar Gustafsson and his 17-year old daughter Anna-Bella. Out of the blue his wife comes back after five years of absence. Merchant Valentin Skog runs the small town's grocery shop and folk park with little revenue but a lot of heart. But the no-good profiteers brothers Grym has their eyes on his business, and will use any means. The dirtier the better! But they haven't counted on "The Doll"- a fresh breeze from the big city - or rather storm wind - who blows life in the struggle against the crooks.

On a tourist trip abroad the passengers on the coach witness an assassination attempt on the President Hurkas. One of the tourists has evidence against the perpetrators, and is killed when the coach reaches Sweden. Another passenger observes how one of the perpetrators is picked up by a yellow car. She is kidnapped and locked up in a mental hospital.

Martin Wide inherits a bus from his dying grandfather. He restores it from being a hen house into a tourist bus. He puts an ad in the newspaper about "travels to the sun" and also advertises for a stewardess at the same time. The female reporter Vera Boman signs up for the job, in order to expose the "tourist travel hoax". The two, together with passengers of various kinds set off from a snowy Sweden towards Paris. During the trip, Vera starts to realize that Martin is not a "tourist cheater" but a kind and thoughtful travel arranger, who tries to tend to all his passengers as best as he can, even when the situations become difficult to handle. In addition, a famous Swedish diamond has just been stolen and it turns out that both the thieves and the private detectives who are after them, are passengers on the bus.

Hasse has received a scholarship from the insurance company where he works together with his friend Lennart. They both travel to Vienna so that Hasse can take a few days off, while Lennart attends lectures about insurance. While away, Lennart has rented his room to a girl, Alva. When he returns home earlier than expected, they have to share the apartment a few days...
