Séraphine and her mother arrive in Paris to visit the 1867 World Exhibition. In an overcrowded city they must be accommodated in separate hotels. During the night the mother, who wasn't feeling very well, gets suddenly worse. When next morning Séraphine goes to meet her every trace of her presence has disappeared and everybody denies having ever met her. The bewildered young woman must find someone who believes her. King Frederick II (aka "Frederick the Great") of Prussia is engaged in a major battle against the Austrian army at Kunersdorf, and things aren't going well. The Austrians are inflicting major casualties, and his army is beginning to crumble. Defeat seems inevitable when a combination of events gives him hope that he may pull victory from the jaws of defeat after all.

She marries Enzo Curti, but later, when she meets Helmut again, she experiences emotional stress as love struggles with a sense of duty in her heart.

Charming Tom is pursuing fine Olivia both cheerfully and stubbornly. At first, she rejects him brutally; but then she finds pleasure in this intrusive guy, who’s following her everywhere. They spend an evening together; but afterwards, Olivia determines, that a valuable bracelet has been stolen from her. Now she thinks Tom is the infamous jewel thief, who’s been terrorizing the neighborhood.

A Noise Severe is the second DVD release by the Dutch group The Gathering. The DVD was created to showcase The Gathering's heavier side after the semi-acoustic DVD A Sound Relief. An accompanying 2-disc CD was also released. The concert was recorded on 24 March 2007 at Teatro Caupolicán, Santiago, Chile.
