Biography
Aron Horvath was born in 1991 in Slovenia to a bilingual family and grew up as part of the Hungarian minority. As a child, he was part of the Slovenian national youth swimming team from 2003 to 2008. He graduated in film directing in 2016 at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana, followed by a master’s degree in film studies in 2021. Since 2015 he has directed a number of short films, including his latest film Bits which premiered in 2020 at the 23rd Festival of Slovenian Film where it won the Best Short Film award and later screened at numerous festivals across the world. His upcoming film Lost Years will be his feature-length directorial debut.
Known For

After the Hungarian army was annihilated by the Mongols at the battle of Mohi, only the castle of Esztergom stood in the Mongolians' way of invading the rest of Europe. Batu Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan, reaches the walls of Esztergom with his invincible troops. The castle's defenders, led by Eusebius, the canon of Esztergom, and a Spanish mercenary, Captain Simon, are preparing for the final battle. The sudden arrival of Cardinal Cesareani, the Papal Legate, coinciding with the Mongol Lunar New Year celebrations and the mystical practices of Eusebius, combine to offer the defenders a small glimmer of hope.

As he's trying to pick up the pieces, he begins to realize what makes this current society so confused, which gives us a highly subjective view of Hungary's present.

With his special ability, he can burn the pictures of the past and the future into photosensitive paper. He sells his ability as an outlaw private detective or cheap showman.
The Developer

A three minute campy comedy-drama short film centred around a queer character, Jesse, feeling depressed and insecure in a nightclub. Everything changes when Jesse discovers their life is a three minute student film and they have two minutes left to live. With the encouragement of their comedic and inspiring director, the character finds confidence and becomes their greatest and proudest self, dancing and living their last moments of life to the fullest.
