The year is 1915. Europe is engulfed in the flames of the First World War. At this time, the revolutionary theorist, political emigrant and adventurer Alexander Parvus is holding talks with the German Foreign Minister, Gottlieb von Jagow. The negotiations end with unexpected success. The German government personally allocates "a lot of money" to Parvus, which should go to the revolution in Russia. This is the beginning of a story that tells not only about the life of this extraordinary man and his role in the historical events that ended in October 1917.

He's a nobleman, and she's a peasant serf.… They weren't meant to be together. Perhaps this is how this love story would have ended if it hadn't been for the war. Napoleon invaded the borders of the Russian Empire, and this day changed the usual way of life and class prejudices. The world will never be the same again. War is writing a new love story.

Events take us to the beginning of World War II in the small town of Stavrovo. Its unique location, a passing railway and a fork in several roads, proximity to the front line, made it attractive to German troops. They placed a rather large garrison in the city. In the city and in its outskirts, an underground was organized. Most of which were recent graduates of the school. This is a story about two fates, two former schoolchildren - Alexei and Dmitry. The first went underground and tried in every possible way to prevent the invaders, giving his life for his homeland. The second sided with the enemy and became an executioner for his own compatriots.
