The story of the Podolsk cadets’ heroic stand outside Moscow in October 1941. Cadets were sent to the Ilyinsky line, fighting alongside units from the Soviet 43rd Army to hold back the German advance until reinforcements arrived. Hopelessly outnumbered, young men laid down their lives in a battle lasting almost two weeks to obstruct the far superior German forces advancing towards Moscow. Around 3,500 cadets and their commanding officers were sent to hold up the last line of defense outside Moscow. Most of them remained there for eternity.

The quiet life of the county town ended with the arrival of two young people from the capital, and what followed will remain in the memory of local residents for a long time. Intrigues and passions, meanness and nobility, love and death are closely intertwined in the life of an outwardly decent society.The outstanding Russian writer brought to the pages of his novel a number of famous and vivid characters who prepared the tragic events that happened in Russia in the 20th century through their activities.

The film is set in 1913 Russia during the celebrations of the Tricentennial Anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty. Rich Russian merchants are celebrating their wealth by gambling and playing poker. They are traveling aboard the luxurious cruise liner "St. Nikolai" on Volga river, oblivious to the fact that several gangs of crooks and con-artists are stealing their money in the game. Their target is the wealthiest Russian tycoon Satanovsky.

Having enthroned the wife of Peter the Great and his mistress Catherine I, Menshikov receives unlimited power, thereby causing envy and indignation of his former allies in the coup. Taking advantage of his absence, they are plotting against His Serene Highness. But once again, luck accompanies the brave darling of fortune: having received a warning of mortal danger, he escapes arrest and enters the boudoir of the Empress.

Russia, January 25, 1725. "Give it all...". The emperor's weakening hand was able to write in his will only these two short incomprehensible words that kept Russia in a bloody struggle for the crown for a century.

Azimova's "Liar" about a robot who can read minds and turns out to be the most humane among people; F. Chilander's "Court" about how robots tried the last person living in the city.

Kirill Vorobyov's life is simple and nothing special: after graduating from school and serving in the army, he works at a factory as a mechanic. But one day he meets Alena, a student at one of the Moscow universities. And for the first time, Kirill begins to feel constrained and uncomfortable in the company of intelligent girl he likes.
