Balint is 18. He crushes on a girl, and then the next one, and the one after. In the rapidly passing Hungarian summer, the impermanence of his desires fills him with despair. When his heart becomes divided between a mysterious girl living in the forest, and a melancholic virgin, he decides he will have two first loves, not just one.
Blending haunted melodrama with a self-looping meta-documentary structure, this immersive film follows a real young actress playing an actress adopting the identity of the lost lover of a stranger, dragging her into reliving unprocessed trauma at the boundary between compulsive lying and self-soothing fantasy. Made with the last acting class before the far-right takeover of Hungary's national theatre school, the film captures in its form how poisonous power structures seep into the most intimate desires of a generation.
A Woman Captured is about Marish, a 52-year-old Hungarian woman who has been serving a family for a decade, working 20 hours a day without getting paid. Her ID was taken from her by her oppressors and she's not allowed to leave the house without permission. Treated like an animal,she only gets leftovers to eat and no bed to sleep in. Marish spends the days with fear in her heart, but dreaming of getting her life back. The film follows Marish’s heroic journey back to freedom.⠀

The film adaptation of the legendary puppet show "Nothing" has created a strange new genre, where the relationship between puppets and their actors is even more vivid, as the viewer's gaze is guided by the camera. The fusion of close-ups and totals, of orchestral numbers recorded like clips, of meta-scapes shining through from the theatrical space, of the puppet and actor work in the performance, has resulted in an unusual youth television puppet show applied to the optics of the camera.
