Biography
The debut film by Franco García (Cusco, 1977), “Vientos del Sur” (2018), premiered at the Lima Film Festival (Peru). It was also selected for the Dominican Global Film Festival, Chicago Latino Film Festival, Cine Las Americas International Film Festival – United States, among others. His second feature film “Raíz” (2024) received a Special Mention from the International Generation Kplus Jury at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. With his short film “Indie” (2008), he won the Peruvian Short Film Award in 2008. His next short film “Lima, 2011” (2011) received the Best Short Film and Best Screenplay Award from the Ministry of Culture of Peru in 2011. He won the Best Short Film Award at the Peruvian Film Festival in Paris in 2013.
