Os Ricos Também Choram is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from July 18, 2005, to January 14, 2006. It is a Brazilian adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Los ricos también lloran (1979), based on the original story by Inés Rodena. Adapted by Gustavo Reiz and Aimar Labaki, with collaboration from Marcos Lazarini, the telenovela stars Thaís Fersoza, Márcio Kieling, Ludmila Dayer, Mika Lins, Françoise Forton, and Jonas Bloch. The story follows Mariana, a young woman raised on a farm without knowing she is the illegitimate daughter and rightful heir of the late Colonel Evaristo Martins. After being driven away from her home, she moves to the town of Ouro Verde, where she falls in love with Alberto Domingues. As she uncovers the truth about her origins, Mariana must face greed, family rivalries, betrayal, and powerful enemies determined to steal her inheritance. Despite the many obstacles, she fights for justice, love, and her rightful place in the family.

It is an adaptation of Jorge Andrade's 1963 play of the same name, adapted for television by Walter George Durst, with collaboration from Duca Rachid, Mário Teixeira, and Marcos Lazarini. The telenovela stars Ana Paula Arósio, Tarcísio Filho, Juca de Oliveira, Othon Bastos, and Leonardo Villar. Set in São Paulo in 1948, the story follows Egisto Ghirotto, the wealthy son of Italian immigrants who dreams of gaining social prestige by marrying his son, Martino, to Isabel, the great-granddaughter of the late Baron of Jaraguá. Their romance sparks a bitter conflict between a rising immigrant family and a declining aristocratic dynasty, exposing themes of class, ambition, tradition, and the social transformation of Brazil.

A young Slovenian girl arrives in Brazil right before the outbreak of World War II. She is alone, single, has left the family and her great love back home, with the promise of returning in one year. Unable to return, she settles down and has a new family and a new life in Brazil. Vida, which means 'life', is her name and she is the director's grandmother who returns to Slovenia with her granddaughter 73 years after her arrival in Brazil. Their journey, the family journey, has a different nature: subjective, poetic and emotional. A journey that struggles to retain unstable memories, relieving feelings and discovering what is hidden in our souls.
