The story revolves around two young schoolboy pioneers, Petya Vasechkin and Vasya Petrov, as they navigate their attempts at self-discovery and their shared affection for their friend, Masha Startseva.
Small but brave boys search for the treasure, become "pirates", engage in a dangerous battle with the Indian Joe. But, the most important thing in this story is that they learn to be loyal friends and good people.
Best friends and mischievous third-graders Vasya Petrov and Petya Vasechkin, despite their differences, share a love for adventures. Romantic Vasya falls for his serious, excellent classmate Masha and writes her an anonymous love note. However, the quick-witted Masha identifies Vasya due to his errors and rejects him harshly. Upset, Vasya confides in Petya, who then devises a cunning plan to win Masha over.
