However, the only thing on Nazım Hikmet's mind was his wife, Piraye. He was very curious about his wife, from whom he had not heard for a long time. As the misery of the war years made itself felt, the devastating news for Nazım was not long in coming. His 28-year prison sentence was confirmed.
