Story of a small Kazakh community in the 1930s terrorized by a Red Army soldier whose task it is to force them to collectivize and to eliminate “kulaks.”

The film examines the problems of the confrontation of good and evil, human courage and opposition to life circumstances.

At his father's funeral, the boy meets his uncle, who has been in prison for a long time, an unemployed and drunk man who came to say goodbye to his brother. Soon the boy learns that in fact his father is exactly this fallen man, who at one time left the family to his older brother. The newly-born father expels the boy's mother from the house. Unable to control himself, the child kills the offender.

Mid-80s of the last century. A small town. The boy Aulet, an orphan and a boarding school pupil, by chance becomes the owner of a winning lottery ticket. The discovery instantly changes his life, in which numerous relatives immediately appear who want to "take care of him."

A "Romeo & Juliet"-type tale of forbidden loves on the steppes of Kazakhstan. Yershora, a maiden from the Adai clan, instantly falls in love with Zhemal from the neighboring Zhaumit clan. The lover's happiness lasts for one night. When morning comes, Zhemal's clan finds the two together. In the course of clan revenge, Zhemal is subjected to torture and Yershora loses her memory.

About the difficult life path of a woman who became the chairman of the Village Council. Fulfilling his duty, Raushan comes into conflict with the aul kulaks and with his own husband.

The film takes place in a Kazakh village. Aman and Aizhan love each other very much, but they often quarrel. Their neighbor Nagima decides to use one of these quarrels to marry her son Ospan to Aizhan. This leads to a number of ridiculous situations that the characters get into. But good, as always, overcomes evil, and the young people reconcile — Aizhan marries Haman.

The main character Burakhan Isakhaev is a film director. As a result of a cardiac crisis, he is admitted to the hospital. There he meets people who step by step, opening up to him, are getting closer and closer. One day, unexpectedly, even for Burakhan, they become characters in the film that he conceived.
